Amboli is certainly a splendid choice for any weekend. It is also a popular getaway among honeymooners and people who want to celebrate their anniversaries. The lush hills here offer a pleasant view. In fact, the mountaintop offers some of the best views you will get in the Western Ghats. Just reach the top and look out. You can see the Konkan coast in front of you. The monsoon is a great time to visit Amboli. The forests are the greenest then, and there is also the mist that makes the place romantic.

 

There is much to do in Amboli. You can visit the Bauxite mines, a mere 10 kilometers away. You can try horse riding or angling. You can visit the beautiful waterfalls here. There are many trekking routes too.

 

How to reach: There aren’t too many buses that take tourists to Amboli. However there are buses that go up to Goa or Savantwadi from Pune and Kolhapur. You can get down at Amboli village. which is also the closest railhead.  You can book a taxi from the airport at Belgaum too. Goa is close to Amboli. So one can drive from goa as well.
