There are actually two caves in Bedsa. The larger cave has been turned into a prayer hall or Chaity, while the smaller one is in the shape of a monastery. See the carvings inside. Both of them face eastward. Tourists would thus be able to explore the inside of these caves better if they visit them earlier in the morning. Natural sunlight will help you then. As the day progresses, the light fades and so does visibility.

There are actually three sets of similar caves in this region – they are the Karla caves, Bhaja caves and the Bedsa caves. However, most tourists often fail to complete the trilogy by missing out on the caves at Bedsa. Don’t make this mistake. There are some people who haven’t even heard of the Bedsa caves. Come here and you will know why this is a must visit. Close to the Bedsa caves, you can also visit the famous forts of Lohagad, Visapur, Tung and Tikona. You can also visit a waterfall in the region.

How to reach: It is easy to reach the Bedsa caves as they are located on the Mumbai-Pune road. You can thus visit the caves from both Mumbai and Pune. First you must reach Kamshet. Turn left at the Chowk and go to the Bedsa village, which is 15 kilometers away. You will find the caves here. If you are coming by train, you should get down at the Kamshet railway station.

Bedsa is just a village. Thus, there are no resorts in Bedsa caves or hotels in Bedsa caves. It is best to visit these caves from Pune or Mumbai on any weekend.
