Located in the Pune District of Maharashtra, Kamshet is an enthralling hill station in the Western Ghats. It is predominantly known for paragliding, cross country flights, tandem flights and joy rides. Situated on an ancient trade route that once provided a link between India’s west coast and the hinterland and perched high at an altitude of 2200 feet above the sea level, Kamshet is surrounded by rugged hills, lush paddy fields and serene lakes. Ancient cave temples and medieval hill fortresses adorn this primordial hill route in many places. Kamshet is also considered as a lovely picnic spot by non-gliders. What is more, it has many interesting sites around it that includes the famed Bhaja Caves and Bedesa Caves.

 

There is plenty to see and do at Kamshet. If you are feeling up to it, then you can try the many adventurous sports on offer here. There are many activities you can choose from here. It is a great hill station for all those who would rather prefer a quieter holiday. Just relax as you see the amazing beauty of the Pawna Lake. There is also the Vadivali Lake for you.

How to reach: By road, Kamshet is about 47 kilometers from Pune and a little more than 100 kilometers from Mumbai. Regular state transport buses are available from both these places. Kamshet is also connected by the Indian Railways. You must get down at the Lonavala station. You can drive directly to Kamshet as well.

 

Since Kamshet is very close to the twin hill stations of Lonavala and Khandala, tourists usually stay at these places and visit Kamshet for purely adventurous pursuits.
