Nestling among the folds of the Sahyadri Mountains where nature is bountiful and the climate is fine, a new hill station is slowly coming up to satisfy the needs of a section of people who feel that the regular hill stations are now totally degenerated and dull. Welcome to Mulshi. It is just a perfect picture post card locale in the Sahyadri range. It is close enough from Pune and Lonavala. And so, a lot of people come to Mulshi on the weekend from Pune. There are those who come even from Mumbai. Most visitors to Lonavala make it a point to visit Mulshi as well. It was just a popular picnic spot once. But now, Mulshi is coming to its own – a destination that deserves mention for its own beauty.

 

What can you find at Mulshi? Here you will get rolling hills, lakes and other water bodies, a lot of greenery and complete peace. There are even a couple of bastions, reminiscent of the fierce fights and battles fought by the great Maratha warrior Shivaji. Even though the elevation of Mulshi is not high enough to keep it cool in the height of summer, but Mulshi remains comfortably cool because of adequate vegetation and lakes in the area.

 

Mulshi is a great place for a camping holiday as well. You could really enjoy this small and quiet hill station in whatever way you like. Head out to Valanewadi, and you will be able to get an amazing view of the Mulshi Lake. You could also go on a nature walk in the forest here.

 

How to reach: You can always drive your own vehicle to Mulshi from Pune. It will take you about 45 minutes to an hour maximum from Pune. There are some private and state buses too that take people to this small hill station. Buses leave for Mulshi from Swargate.
