Sometimes, even the most un-happening of all places suddenly come under limelight just because of some extraordinary things that happen there. Take for instance, the sleepy village of Sajan that is located off Manor-Jawhar Road in Maharashtra. It was in all honesty just a small village in hilly terrains. The only positive aspect was that it was close to Mumbai, and people were looking for a weekend break.

So some enthusiastic people came up with the idea of setting up a resort there to lure the tired city dwellers. And so the Sajan Nature Club opened its doors. In time some other resorts also started to come up, and Sajan was turned into a popular weekend destination. But that’s a part of the story. The resorts here now offer activity-based holidays to their residents. That’s become a huge draw for the city dwellers. And that is the main reason why Sajan has become so popular.

Spread well over 30 acres of forested land, there are Tarzan-like tree-top accommodation options here that comprise of self-contained rooms for couples, and also 4-bedded rooms and dormitories that can accommodate 15/30 tourists. Additionally, there are thatched huts for romantic pairs. You can certainly expect all the comforts of modern living here.

You could just relax here on your short vacation or you could get busy playing carom, table tennis, cricket, football or volleyball. There is the option of jungle trekking and mountain biking as well.

How to reach: There is no railway station at Sajan. The closest railway head is at Thane, which is about one hour away. You can book a taxi from there. You can drive from Mumbai too if you want. It will take you about three hours considering the city traffic.

There are now many places to stay in Sajan. You will find cottages in Sajan, resorts in Sajan, and hotels in Sajan.
