Kune Waterfalls Lonavala

If you are going from Mumbai to Pune, just cross the last tunnel before Lonavla, and you will suddenly come across a sight that you might remember for many years. Standing before you will be the tall Kune waterfalls. Leave the new Mumbai-Pune Expressway and take the highway that was used before for a closer look. This slight detour is certainly worth it. You will definitely be mesmerized. This detour will just cost you ten minutes. Once you have reached the Kune church, you will know that you are almost there. You will see a huge stream of water jumping down the cliff. There are two sections. Each one of them is 100 meters high, making the Kune waterfalls the 14th highest in India. If you have not seen Kune in all its glory, then you have definitely missed something.

 

It is obviously best to visit the place during the monsoon. Because of the rains, there is a lot of water at Kune this time of the year. Just stand there for a while and take in the greenery all around. If you love nature, this is the place for you. Take as many pictures as you like. If you love trekking, then you might even do a small trek to the base of the waterfall. It would be an interesting hike. Relax once you have reached there. Or better still, take a bath in the cold waters of the stream.

 

Both Lonavla and Khandala are wonderful weekend destinations. There is a lot more to see around these places. One major destination is this Kume waterfall. Don’t miss it if you are in the area.

 

How to reach: There are a lot of state and private buses that ply between Mumbai and Lonavla-Khandala. There are buses from Pune too. Reach these places and hire a car to see the falls. You can take a train as well. If you are driving, then you can see Kune just before Lonavla if you take the detour.

 

There are no resorts in Kune or hotels in Kune. You must stay either in Lonavla or Khandala. Go on a day trip to see all the tourist places around Lonavla and Khandala. Sightseeing tours include Kune waterfalls.
