Kelshi, Karde and Ladghar Beach– Recipe for a Perfect Weekend Trip

Beautiful palm and suru trees lining the pristine beaches, small villages and towns that are always peaceful, lots of green vegetation all around, small hills along the Konkan coast, and a few temples that attract a lot of devotees… this is how Kelshi, Karde and Ladghar can be described. These are all beautiful places you are sure to fall in love with. Your perfect weekend getaway!

Quite close to Mumbai, you can visit all three places together in the same trip. Kelshi, Karde and Ladghar are all close to each other. Two days should be enough to visit them. And you will also have spare time to catch up on your sleep. The monsoon can be a great time to visit them. The Konkan coast is at its greenest this time of the year.

Kelshi – Kelshi can be the ideal destination for your weekend trip. You’ll get to enjoy the village way of life. And besides, there is a beautiful beach here that remains secluded almost at all times. You will be alone with the sand and the surf. That’s indeed the best way to enjoy nature. The beach here stretches for 2.5 kilometers. Catch the sunset here – it is spectacular. Kelshi is a place of pilgrimage as well. There is the Yaqub baba dargah and the Mahalaxmi temple here. This temple dates back to the Peshwa dynasty. You will also find the Siddhivinayak Ganpati temple in the main street of the village. These temples and the dargah attract many tourists. Of course, all of them eventually land up at the beach.

Ladghar – Another place you should visit in this part of the Konkan coast is Ladghar, which is also referred to as “Tamas Tirtha”. This is a rocky beach, quite like some of them in Goa. The beach goes all the way to Burundi. You’ll find the rocky stretch at the northern section of the beach. The southern part of the beach however has coarse sand. You can sit on the rocky portion of the beach and see the waves lap against the rocks. It is fun. Climb the hill behind the sea and reach the “Dutta mandir”. You will be able to see the entire panorama. Or if you want, you can ride the water scooter or do some parasailing.

Karde – The Karde beach is actually an extension of Ladghar. Just a few rocky structures separate these two beaches. The good times continue at Karde. You’ll get paragliding here too, and it has become a favorite activity among the holidaymakers. But there is one additional attraction here. It is watching dolphins. If you are lucky, you could see these amazing mammals.
