Lesser Known Tourist Spots in the Konkan – Harihareshwar, Diveagar and Shrivardhan
You’re always closer to nature here. The beaches are clean, the water is good for swimming, and there‘s a lot of greenery for you to enjoy. Let us now take a closer look at these three places along the Konkan coast.
Harihareshwar – Harihareshwar is a small mountain village in Raigad. The town gets its name from the temple of Lord Harihareshwar. The place is often called “house of God” or “Dev-Ghar” as well. This is where the Savitri River meets the Arabian Sea. But the real beauty is just behind the temple complex. There is a small hilly track that you can climb to reach the top of the hill. You will get a panoramic view from the top. The sunset looks terrific from up here.
Diveagar – Diveagar is a small village in Raigad. The beach is stunning. But even the approach to the beach is very beautiful. You will have to cross a dense cover of Belu trees as you go into the beach. And once you are at the beach, you will see Suru trees all over. It looks beautiful. There is a Ganesh temple as well at Diveagar. The mask on the idol is made of pure gold. It was accidentally discovered. The mask was lying in a copper trunk along with other treasures for decades.
Shrivardhan – Shrivardhan is developing quickly into a beachside resort. It is just 18 kilometers from Diveagar. There is a new coastal road that will take you from Diveagar to Shrivardhan. It is an incredibly scenic drive that can rival the best coastal roads in the world. The beach here is lovely too. There are two hills on both sides of the beach. You’ll find the beach clean and the water extremely clear. There is a Shiva temple at Shrivardhan as well.
