Chinchoti Vasai

There are very few waterfalls in the northern part of Maharashtra. Most of them seem to be located in the south of the state. But there really shouldn’t be any reason for complaining because there is the Chinchoti waterfall. There aren’t too many better ones north of Mumbai. A lot of people from Mumbai, Thane and the adjoining areas visit Chinchoti on a weekend. It is indeed a great short excursion. Of course the monsoon is the most stunning. The waterfall really becomes wild as it is constantly fed by fresh water. But remember, the approach roads and even some of the villages can go under water this time of the year. So think again whether you want to visit Chinchoti during the rains. The waterfall is a good weekend trip in other times of the year too.

 

There are of course some people who take it on in the wild season. They love to trek all the way from Vasai or Naigaon. You can do this too if you are fond of adventures. It would definitely be a good experience. There are rickshaws that will take you up to the base village.

 

Once you have reached Chinchoti, you will find that there is a lot to do. You can take a dip at the pool of water. You can play some sports here. Or you may simply relax. The place is indeed very serene. Chinchoti is a 20 feet wide waterfall, and the height is 100 feet. You are sure to love the place. Often, there are picnickers or other adventurers. Let them not bother you. Just select a corner for your party and enjoy your time at the Chinchoti waterfall.

 

How to reach: The best way to reach the waterfalls is by taking a train from Mumbai. Board the trains that travel in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route. Get down at the Vasai station. From there, you can take a rickshaw or you can trek. Alternatively, you can also take a bus to reach Vasai.

 

Most people visit the Chinchoti waterfalls on a day trip from Mumbai, and so, there are no hotels in Chinchoti or home stays in Chinchoti.
