Akshi, Nagaon, Kashid, Murud – Clean and Serene Beaches

Residents of Mumbai and other cities in the region can certainly count themselves lucky. There are plenty of hill stations, forts, caves, wildlife sanctuaries and national parks and religious destinations. There are some wonderful beach resorts too. Of course, when we speak of a beach resort in Western India, the first to come to mind is Goa. Next are the beaches of Kerala. But the problem is that, can you visit Goa on a weekend? Probably not! You will need at least 4-5 days to spend quality time there and see all the attractions. Kerala is ruled out for a weekend too. It would take even longer. Most of us are so busy now that we can only think of weekend breaks. The longer vacation can only happen once a year.

 

Luckily, there is some amazing beach resorts closer home from Mumbai. So this means that, you could leave after work on Friday evening or Saturday morning and return home on Sunday night. And if you have an extended weekend, then you can add a day to your trip.

Introducing Akshi, Nagaon, Kashid and Murud! Not too many people may know about these beach resorts outside Maharashtra, but they are nonetheless fantastic destinations. They have not been that well publicized, which is good, because, you’ll always find fewer people there. You’ll always be able to find a quiet corner in these beach resorts. The beaches are clean. There is a lot of green coverage. And if you are lucky, you might even have the entire beach to yourself.

Akshi – This is a stunning white sandy beach. Many suru trees line the coast. Just pick your place and sit there for a while. You might see some rare birds. Akshi is a paradise for bird watchers.

Nagaon – The Nagaon beach is located just 7 kilometers from Alibag. If you have seen the Bollywood hit “Sagar”, then you have already seen this beach. The famous song “Sagar Kinare Dil Ye Pukare” was shot here. It certainly fits the description.

Kashid – The Kashid beach has become popular in recent years. Its location between mountains, greenery and lakes is fantastic to say the least. Casuarinas groves surround the beach. The waves are bigger here, and so, it’s one place the surfers head to. But surfing is not allowed during the monsoon because it the waves get even bigger at this time of the year.

Murud – Murud beach is 1.75 kilometers long. It stands like an ornament on the Arabian Sea. Just set a foot o the golden sand here and take a look at the crystal clear water. You’ll definitely want to return. Green palm trees border this stunning beach.
