Manor – An Upcoming Quiet Getaway

Have you heard of Manor? It is just a small village in Thane district of Maharashtra, close to the border of the state with Gujarat. Manor is located on the NH-08, or the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway. The fact is that, very few people even in Maharashtra have heard about this, and so, you can be sure that almost nobody from outside the state or Gujarat knows about this lovely little village. But it’s coming up fast in the tourist map of the state. Resorts are coming up all over the village catering to weekend travelers who want tranquility and solitude, and want to spend quality time with their friends or family.

Technically, Manor falls in the Konkan region. But you will find very little of the Konkani characteristics here. There is a strong Maharashtrian and Gujarati influence in the food. There are no backwaters or large water bodies, except for the Vaitarna River that flows quietly through the valleys. But it’s one beautiful river. Life revolves around its both banks. In fact, many of the resorts that have come up in recent years are actually located on the banks of this river. Most of these resorts come with private balconies that overlook the river. Some of them even have picnic areas on the banks, and a place for campfire during the night with barbeque.

There are rolling hills, and lots of greenery, which appears very lush just after the monsoon.

Manor is a quiet getaway, far removed from the more touristy places of the state. It has become popular among corporate houses. Many of them book conference facilities and party lawns in the resorts for their executives, and arrange annual conferences and quarterly sales meets. However, you will still find many families with kids spending a nice relaxing vacation and enjoying the many activities here. In short, Manor is the right quick getaway for almost anybody.

Manor Essentials

Manor is 60 kilometers away from the city of Thane in Maharashtra. Mumbai is at a distance of 90 kilometers. Cities close to Manor are Virar, Chinchani, Nawapur, and Palghar. There isn’t any railway station here. The closest railway head is at Thane. However, most resorts send a car to pick up their guests who are traveling by train. There is a water park close to Manor as well, which has become very popular among both kids and adults.

From Manor, you can visit the Kelva Beach at a distance of 33 kilometers and Mahalakshmi Temple at Dahanu, which is 30 kilometers away.
