Nagata Amboli

There are some places that are best visited in the monsoon. The Nagata Amboli waterfall in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra is one such. Sure enough, all waterfalls look good during in the rainy season, as the rains make the flow rich. The Nagata Amboli however stands out because of its incredible natural beauty. Though the waterfall is technically in Maharashtra, but it is actually closer to Goa and the big cities of Karnataka. Thus, more people visit Nagata Amboli from these places, rather than from Pune or Mumbai. Of course, some folks from Mumbai and Pune visit Nagata on a weekend trip from Goa.

 

The Nagata Amboli waterfall is located just 70 kilometers from Belgaum. Hundreds of picnickers come here from Belgaum, Goa and other close places, particularly in the winter season. But non-picnickers come all through the year. The monsoon remains a popular season. It is probably the best time of the year to visit the waterfall too. This is the time when you can see the mist in the hills and the thick vegetation. It is definitely very romantic then. Plus, you can also avoid the crowds of the winter.

 

It is a huge waterfall that comes gushing down from the rocky crop above. A lot of people are seen taking a shower under it. You can just relax here and take in the nature all around you. Or you can take a bath and enjoy the outdoor fun. There are many places around Nagata Amboli that you can visit too. Everything together makes Nagata Amboli a great weekend vacation destination in Maharashtra.

 

How to reach: You can take a bus to reach the fort from Pune. There are regular Maharashtra State Transport buses. You can drive your car or even a bike to reach Sinhagad. The Ghat road is very scenic.

 

You will find a few decent hotels in Amboli. There are few resorts in Amboli and some home stays too.
