Discover Two Fantastic Beaches Near Malvan

Close to Malvan at the southernmost tip of Maharashtra, you will find two fantastic beaches – Tarkarli and Devgagh. Both these places are not on the regular tourist trail, and have thus been able to retain much of the charm. But that is changing fast, as more and more people are discovering these beauties. Now is the time to visit Devbagh and Tarkarli.

Tarkarli

Tarkarli is just a small village on the sea. If you love soft sand under your feet as you go on long strolls, hand in hand with your partner, then you are sure to fall in love with this place. Add to that some of the cleanest air you can find anywhere, and an unspoiled virgin beach, and what you have is a great experience. The water is good for swimming as well. In fact, the water is so clear here that you will even be able to see the sea bed. You can try snorkeling and even scuba diving to see the marine life. If you are lucky, you might even be able to see a dolphin. There is the option of boat ride and water ski as well.

If you visit Tarkarli in season, you can see turtles lazing around and laying their eggs. But don’t try to go too near them. You shouldn’t disturb the turtles or steal their eggs. You are allowed to take pictures though. On a clear day, you might even be able to see the Sindhudurg fort at a distance. Historians tell us that the fort was constructed by Shivaji Maharaj.

There is a small river that meets the sea here. You will see beautiful sailboats fighting the waves. There are small islands on the riverbank and suru trees along the coast. Just perfect!

Devbagh

Devbagh is also a small village on the coast. It is close to Tarkarli – these two beaches are next to each other. In fact, some people believe that Devbagh is even more beautiful than Tarkarli. The Malvan-Tarkarli road will take you to this beach from Tarkarli. You will find the backwaters of the Karli River on one side here, and the Arabian Sea on the other. There are very few people in the Devbagh beach, even during the peak season.

There are some decent resorts you can choose from here. There is the option of home stay as well. Some families welcome guests. It could be a unique experience for you.
